Snake is an unpleasant and fearful reptile for most of us.  But still there are people who would like to have a snake at home and live with them as you do for a cat or a dog. Also not all snakes are poisonous. Some of them are good and tame enough to be a pet for us. There are several reasons to make snakes good pets.

  • Snakes need only a small space.
Size of the snake mainly decide the  space it needs. But comparatively they need a small space to move freely since they are not as active as other pets we have.
  • Feeding snakes is relatively easy.
Most snakes need a meal only once or twice per month.  In countries like US, frozen rats are available from pet shops.  Of course, if you have a snake such as Burmese python, it may need a heavy meal.
  • Cleaning and cage maintenance is easy.
Cleaning the cage of a snakes every two weeks is sufficient.

Ball python will be a good option to have as the first snake pet. Ball python is a non-venomous python species found in Africa. They are considered as non aggressive, tame and slow animals. An adult ball python is about 4 feet in length.
